TPS63000DRCR

TITPS63000DRCR

Texas Instruments
Buck-Boost Switching Regulator IC Positive Adjustable 1.2V 1 Output 1.6A (Switch) 10-VFDFN Exposed Pad
Active22,257 in stock

Overview

The TPS63000DRCR is a high-efficiency buck-boost converter designed for devices powered by a single-cell Li-Ion, Li-Polymer, or multi-cell alkaline battery. It provides a stable output voltage from 1.2V to 5.5V, even when the input voltage ranges from 1.8V to 5.5V. This capability allows the system to utilize the full energy capacity of the battery as the voltage drops below the regulated output level.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator features a 1.6A switch current limit and up to 96 percent efficiency, minimizing thermal dissipation in compact designs. The seamless transition between buck and boost modes prevents output glitches during input voltage fluctuations. Its 10-pin VSON package and high switching frequency enable the use of very small external inductors and capacitors.

Applications

Single-Cell Lithium Battery Systems
Maintains a stable 3.3V or 5V rail as the battery discharges from 4.2V down to 2.5V.
Handheld Medical Devices
Provides regulated power for portable diagnostic tools requiring high efficiency and small footprint.
Wireless Sensor Nodes
Powers low-power RF transceivers where input voltage varies across the battery life cycle.
USB-Powered Peripherals
Regulates 5V USB power to precise internal logic levels regardless of cable voltage drops.

Getting Started

When designing the PCB layout, place the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the IC pins to minimize parasitic inductance. Use the TPS63000EVM-148 evaluation module to verify performance and thermal behavior under specific load conditions. Engineers should select a low-ESR inductor with a saturation current higher than the 1.6A peak switch current.
