Overview

The TPS73018DBVRM3 is a 200mA, fixed 1.8V low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator from Texas Instruments designed for high performance in noise-sensitive applications. It features a high Power Supply Rejection Ratio (PSRR) of 70dB at 100Hz and very low ground current, making it ideal for battery-powered handheld devices. The device is housed in a small 5-pin SOT-23 package and includes an enable pin for power sequencing and conservation.

Why Choose This Part

The TPS73018DBVRM3 offers an excellent PSRR of 70dB to 39dB across a wide frequency range (100Hz to 100kHz), effectively filtering switching noise from upstream DC-DC converters. It features a wide junction operating temperature range from -40C to 125C and includes integrated protection against over-temperature, over-current, and under-voltage lockout conditions.

Applications

RF Transceiver Power
Providing clean 1.8V rails to VCOs and PLLs where high PSRR is required to minimize phase noise.
ADC Reference Supply
Acting as a stable, low-noise supply for analog-to-digital converters in precision instrumentation.
Handheld Medical Devices
Powering low-voltage microcontrollers and sensors in portable equipment where space is limited.
Bluetooth Low Energy Modules
Regulating battery voltage for BLE SoCs that require efficient operation and low standby current.

Getting Started

When designing with this LDO, place a high-quality ceramic output capacitor close to the VOUT and GND pins to ensure stability and transient performance. Use the Enable (EN) pin to drive the regulator into a low-current standby mode when the 1.8V rail is not required by the system. Evaluation can be performed by soldering the SOT-23-5 package onto a standard breakout board or using a universal LDO evaluation module.
