Overview

The TPS79325DBVR is a low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator from Texas Instruments designed for noise-sensitive RF and analog applications. It provides a fixed 2.5V output at up to 200mA with a high power-supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and very low noise performance. The device is housed in a compact 5-pin SOT-23 package and includes an active-high enable pin for power sequencing.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator features an excellent PSRR of 70dB at 100Hz, effectively filtering input ripple from switching supplies. It is stable with small 2.2uF ceramic output capacitors and offers a wide operating junction temperature range from -40C to 125C. The high-speed transient response ensures stable voltage regulation during sudden changes in load or line conditions.

Applications

RF Transceiver Power
Providing clean, low-noise power to VCOs, PLLs, and mixers in wireless communication systems.
Precision Analog Circuitry
Powering high-resolution ADCs and DACs where voltage ripple must be minimized to maintain signal integrity.
Handheld Medical Devices
Supporting portable instrumentation that requires a small footprint and high reliability across a wide temperature range.
Battery-Powered Instrumentation
Utilizing the 1uA shutdown current to extend battery life in portable sensing equipment.

Getting Started

To implement this LDO, place a 2.2uF ceramic capacitor close to the VOUT pin and a 0.1uF to 1uF capacitor at the VIN pin for stability. Ensure the EN pin is pulled high to VDD for normal operation or low to enter a 1uA shutdown mode. For thermal management, maximize the copper area connected to the GND pin to help dissipate heat in high-dropout or high-current scenarios.
