Overview

The TPS7A2018PDQNRM3 is an ultra-small, low-noise, high-PSRR linear voltage regulator capable of sourcing 300mA. It is designed for RF and sensitive analog circuits where space is limited and clean power is required, featuring a fixed 1.8V output in a compact 1x1mm X2SON package.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator eliminates the need for an external noise-bypass capacitor, reducing the total BOM count and PCB area. It remains stable with a small 1uF ceramic output capacitor and includes a smart enable pulldown for improved system reliability during power sequencing.

Applications

RF Power Rail Filtering
Uses its 95dB PSRR at 1kHz to clean up switching noise for sensitive wireless transceivers and front-end modules.
Wearable Device Power
Provides 300mA in a 1mm x 1mm footprint, making it ideal for space-constrained smartwatches and fitness trackers.
Portable Medical Instrumentation
Ensures low-noise power delivery (7 nV/rtHz) for precision sensors in handheld diagnostic equipment.
Smart Meter Communication
Handles peak current requirements for field transmitters while maintaining high efficiency at light loads.

Getting Started

When designing the PCB layout, place the 1uF input and output ceramic capacitors as close to the X2SON pins as possible to minimize parasitic inductance. Evaluation can be performed using the TPS7A20EVM-056 evaluation module, which allows for testing high-frequency PSRR and transient response across the full 300mA load range.
