Overview

The TPS7A6650QDGNRQ1 is a low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator designed for high-voltage automotive applications, offering a fixed 5V output at up to 150mA. It features a very low quiescent current of 12uA, making it ideal for always-on battery-connected systems where power conservation is critical. The device includes integrated safety features such as a programmable reset-pulse delay and an open-drain reset output for microcontroller monitoring.

Why Choose This Part

This regulator is AEC-Q100 Grade 0 qualified, supporting operating junction temperatures from -40 to 150 degrees Celsius. It combines high-voltage tolerance (40V max) with ultra-low quiescent current and integrated power-good functionality to reduce external component count in safety-critical designs.

Applications

Automotive Body Control Modules
Powering always-on MCUs and CAN/LIN transceivers directly from the 12V battery rail.
Battery Management Systems (BMS)
Regulating high-voltage bus sensing circuits while maintaining low standby current draw.
Industrial Sensor Nodes
Providing stable 5V power in rugged environments with input transients up to 40V.

Getting Started

When designing the PCB, place a low-ESR ceramic capacitor of at least 10uF at the output for stability and ensure the thermal pad of the 8-HVSSOP package is soldered to a large ground plane to manage heat dissipation. Configure the reset-pulse delay by selecting the appropriate capacitor value for the DELAY pin based on the target MCU startup timing requirements.
