TITXB0108PWR
Overview
The TXB0108PWR is an 8-bit bidirectional voltage-level translator from Texas Instruments. It supports A-side voltages from 1.2 V to 3.6 V and B-side voltages from 1.65 V to 5.5 V, and provides automatic direction sensing so signals can pass either way without a direction-control pin. The device comes in a TSSOP-20 package. Note: it is intended for push-pull digital signals and is not recommended for some open-drain buses such as I2C without additional circuitry.
Why Choose This Part
The TXB0108PWR covers a wide pair of voltage ranges on its two sides, letting it bridge many common logic families in one device. Auto-direction sensing eliminates the need for a direction-control signal on each channel, simplifying PCB routing and firmware. Its small TSSOP-20 package packs eight channels into a compact footprint for space-constrained designs.
Applications
Getting Started
Power VCCA and VCCB to the target logic voltages and route signals to the corresponding A/B pins; consult the TI datasheet for recommended decoupling and layout. For prototyping, look for third-party breakout boards that expose the A and B pins and power rails. Avoid using this device for open-drain buses like I2C without adding appropriate pull-ups or choosing an I2C-specific translator (see alternatives).
