Overview

The TXS0104VDR is a 4-bit bidirectional voltage level translator designed for interfacing between different logic voltage domains. It supports a VCCA range of 1.65V to 3.6V and a VCCB range of 2.3V to 5.5V, making it ideal for bridging legacy 5V or 3.3V systems with modern low-voltage microcontrollers. This device features auto-direction sensing, which eliminates the need for a direction-control signal from the host processor.

Why Choose This Part

The TXS0104VDR features an auto-direction sensing architecture that supports both open-drain and push-pull CMOS outputs, providing significant design flexibility. It supports data rates up to 24Mbps and includes integrated pull-up resistors, which reduces the total component count and PCB footprint in space-constrained designs.

Applications

I2C Level Shifting
Translating between 1.8V microcontrollers and 3.3V or 5V I2C peripherals using the integrated open-drain support.
SD Card Interfacing
Bridging low-voltage processor I/O to 3.3V SD card signal levels for high-speed data transfer.
GPIO Voltage Bridging
Connecting 1.8V sensors or modules to standard 3.3V system buses in mixed-signal environments.
UART Level Translation
Bi-directional level shifting for serial communication lines without requiring manual direction control.

Getting Started

Ensure that VCCA is always less than or equal to VCCB during operation. For board-level prototyping, use a 100nF decoupling capacitor on both VCCA and VCCB pins to maintain signal integrity during high-speed switching. The OE (Output Enable) pin should be tied to GND through a pull-down resistor to ensure the high-impedance state during power-up or power-down.
