Overview

The US4881LUA-AAA-000-BU is a bipolar Hall effect latch designed in CMOS technology. It features a chopper-stabilized amplifier stage that minimizes offset drift, ensuring stable switching points across a wide supply voltage range of 2.2V to 18V. The device is housed in a through-hole TO-92 package and is rated for high-temperature automotive and industrial environments up to 150 degrees Celsius.

Why Choose This Part

The component utilizes a chopper-stabilized architecture to achieve high sensitivity and thermal stability, maintaining a 6mT trip and -6mT release point. Its open-drain output simplifies interfacing with various logic levels, while the wide 2.2V to 18V operating range supports both low-power and industrial voltage rails.

Applications

Brushless DC Motor Commutation
Used to detect rotor position in BLDC motors to trigger phase switching.
Speed Detection
Monitoring rotating shafts or gears to provide frequency-based speed feedback.
Solid-State Switching
Replacing mechanical reed switches in proximity and limit detection for improved reliability.
Angular Position Sensing
Detecting magnetic pole transitions in rotary encoders or steering systems.

Getting Started

To integrate this sensor, connect a pull-up resistor between the open-drain output and the logic supply voltage (up to 20V). Ensure the South pole of a magnet is used to trip the latch and the North pole is used to release it. Decouple the supply pin with a 100nF ceramic capacitor placed as close to the device as possible to maintain signal integrity in noisy environments.
