VEML7700-TR
Overview
The VEML7700-TR is a high-accuracy 16-bit ambient light sensor (ALS) housed in a compact side-view 4-pin surface-mount package. It utilizes Filtron technology to achieve spectral sensitivity closely matching the human eye, with a peak wavelength of 545nm. The device communicates via a standard I2C interface and operates over a low supply voltage range of 2.5V to 3.6V.
Why Choose This Part
The sensor features ultra-low power consumption, drawing only 0.5uA in shutdown mode and as little as 0.002mA during active operation with power-saving modes enabled. Its 16-bit resolution provides a wide dynamic range, and its specialized optical design offers excellent immunity to infrared interference.

Getting Started
Connect the sensor to an I2C bus with pull-up resistors on the SDA and SCL lines. For rapid prototyping, engineers often use the Adafruit VEML7700 breakout board or similar modules which are compatible with Arduino and CircuitPython libraries. Ensure the supply voltage stays within the 2.5V to 3.6V range and refer to the application note for optimal gain and integration time settings.
