Overview

The WL1837MODGIMOCT is a high-performance, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1 module from Texas Instruments WiLink 8 series. It supports 802.11a/b/g/n with 2x2 MIMO on the 2.4GHz band and SISO on the 5GHz band, providing integrated RF power amplifiers and low-noise amplifiers. This module is designed to offload Wi-Fi and Bluetooth processing from the host application processor, communicating via SDIO and UART interfaces.

Why Choose This Part

The module offers excellent sensitivity of -95dBm and an output power of 18dBm, ensuring reliable range for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. It simplifies design by integrating the power management, RF switches, and filters into a compact 100-SMD package. Engineers benefit from ultra-low power consumption in sleep modes (160uA) and pre-certified RF performance that reduces time-to-market.

Applications

Industrial Gateways
Utilizes dual-band Wi-Fi and MIMO capabilities to provide robust wireless backhaul for industrial sensors and controllers.
High-Definition Audio Streaming
Leverages Bluetooth A2DP EDR2 support for high-quality audio streaming in consumer and professional equipment.
Home Automation Hubs
Acts as a central communication node supporting simultaneous Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth Low Energy mesh networking.
Medical Diagnostic Equipment
Provides reliable 5GHz connectivity in interference-prone environments for transferring patient data and imaging.

Getting Started

Evaluation is best performed using the WL1837MODCOM8I WiLink 8 evaluation board which plugs into TI Sitara AM335x or AM437x development kits. Software support is provided through the WiLink 8 Linux driver stack and MCS (Multi-Coexistence System) firmware for managing simultaneous Wi-Fi and Bluetooth traffic. Ensure your host processor supports the SDIO interface for WLAN and UART for Bluetooth transport.
