Overview

The X-NUCLEO-53L1A1 is an expansion board designed for STM32 Nucleo development boards to evaluate the VL53L1CX long-range Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor. It enables precise distance measurement up to 4 meters regardless of target reflectance by utilizing STMicroelectronics patented FlightSense technology. The board comes equipped with a cover glass holder and three different spacers to simulate various air gaps for final product integration.

Why Choose This Part

The board features an Arduino UNO R3 connector for immediate compatibility with the STM32 Nucleo ecosystem and includes full system software with code examples. It allows for rapid prototyping of multi-sensor configurations by supporting additional satellite boards for wide-field-of-view sensing.

Applications

User Detection
Implementing wake-on-approach or power-saving modes for laptops, monitors, and smart home appliances.
Robotics Obstacle Avoidance
Providing fast and accurate distance sensing for wall following and collision prevention in service robots.
Industrial Proximity Sensing
Reliable object detection in manufacturing environments where ambient light interference is common.
Volume and Level Monitoring
Measuring liquid or solid levels in containers using non-contact infrared ranging.
