SDI Tools

You can try the product from www.elektronikladen.de compod12. There is a
beta test for the DP256 part now; although I have not used the beta, given
my past knowledge of the company, it will be perfected very soon.
Elektronikladen does reference designs for Motorola and the quality of their
software and hardware is very good. I have used the compod12 for several
months with the dg128a part without problems.

Then next use ICC12 and NOICE12 for debugging, both excellent products.
NOICE12 has indicated that support for flashing directly the DP256 will be
added when Elektronikladen code is complete (I have no authority on this
other then the emails about flash problem). But for the time being you can
use all three and just use the program that comes with ComPod12 (StarProg)
to flash the DP256.

A very inexpensive solution.

ICC12 proffessional $399 www.imagecraft.com, NOICE12 $79
www.noicedebugger.com, ComPod12 $150 www.elektronikladen.de (this is by
memory, so you need to check the site). You can download the first two
products and use them in demostration mode for free to see how they perform
(ICC12 std version not prof). They work very well.

It will take very little time to get the system running. I found it much
more complex to use Metrowerks the the above for a smaller project, but then
I am not very well versed with Metrowerks as others might be.

Thanks for your good answer
I have one more question for Compod12,
Is it possbile for me to replace SDI tool with COMPOD12 with using Metrowerks(Hiwave tool) debugging tool?
best regards

You may also try HC12POD from www.krummsdorf.de. Is similar to the compod12 and
can programm DP256 parts up to 24MHz. There is also a little Debugger from
www.krummsdorf.de which supports the ICC12-Debug-output and take advantage of
some spezial features from the HC12POD (like 12V Programming-Voltage generation
for the older HC12-Parts).

Hello
I want to know whether I can replace SDI tool of Motorola with HC12POD in order to use Metroweks(Hi Wave) debuging tool.

I think there was a .dll-File to use the HC12POD in Hi Wave, so it should work with Metrowerks too.
But I have never test it. Maybe you ask direkt at .

Hi.
As far as I know, then HI-WAVE/Metrowerks debugger does not have any driver
for HC12POD.
