Help with project

Started by fernandez_edsel September 21, 2010
Hi, I'm a college student. I'm working on a project for school. It is a lap timing system. Basically have a infrared detector and emitter, that once the detector senses the infrared emitter would send out a signal to the HCS12 microcontroller Port T which is the timing counter to count how many seconds in between laps. I've got the circuit working but the C program using Imagecraft is not displaying the right time. I'm not very good at programming so I need help. I can post what I got for the program so far for anyone who is interested in helping. I've been googling for help and I came to this site first to find help. Any help is greatly appreciated. And if anyone knows where I can get more assistance with the programming I would appreciate that too. Thanks.

There are more qualified people then me on this user group to answer your question, but since there have been no replies, I will try to help. When you say "its not displaying the right time", I take it that you have an LCD display that is not giving you the correct time in minutes and seconds, or is your program outputting a hexadecimal number to the LCD? Is the timing error constant in reference to the event, or is the discrepancy shifting? I need more information on your project in order to help.

Also, I have been looking for a good infrared emitter and receiver circuit for one of my projects. Could you or anyone else in this group suggest a good design? For my design, the emitter and detector will be no farther then about 16 inches from each other.

Our display is at the terminal window on the PC. We use Imagecraft software to
interface our HCS12 to the computer. I will email you our program. As far as a
good emmitter and detector pair, we went to robokits.com for our parts. It's
been hard looking for a good pair and we went through several, even tried some
from radio shack. Again thanks for your help.
