bootloader for 9s12dp256

Started by Joe McCarron September 10, 2004
Does the bootloader come already loaded in flash when
you purchase the chip or do you have to load it ?

Thanks
Joe McCarron

I use the DP256 religiously. it comes erased. there is no software in it. the boot loader to the best of my knowledge has to be loaded via the bdm cable. once thats done i do believe you can load flash and eeprom code via standard rs-232 serial interface.

hope this helps.

Joe,

It depends which chip you are using.
Some of the newer HCS12 mask-sets and derivatives come with a loaded
bootloader already programmed in the Flash. The bootloader can be used to
load your own Flash content via an SCI ports or a CAN port. Application
note 2546 in the following link describes this bootloader:

Guys,

I am certain that the bootloader is not yet on any production part
and the date for introduction has not yet been set. I will pass on
the comment to the guy who initiated the project that the app note
indicates otherwise.
