AT91SAM9G20 - SDCARD BOOT ?

Started by "Vellemans, Noel" May 12, 2009
Hello,
I'm trying to boot the AT91SAM9G20 from SDCARD.

When I read the AT91SAM9G20-spec's there should be a file "boot.bin"
located into the root of a FAT/12/16/32 formated card.
The AT91SAM9G20 should boot this file if no other valid boot sequence is
found. (ref to DATASHEETS/MANUALS for details)

I can not get this to work, is there someone that can help me a little
further?
Someone out there that al ready succeeded in booting 'a' ATSAM9G20
bootstrap from SDCARD?

(The same board is booting from NAND if it's programmed correctly (or
NFS) ,.. and .. the SDCard interface is working while linux is running,
so I assume the hardware should be ok.)

Kind regards,
Noel

I don't have any experience with either the G20 or booting of SD cards,
but two things:

1. Is it booting (or trying to boot) off something else first?

2. I know the early steppings of the AT91SAM9261 don't boot off
everything they're supposed to, and these are the ones in all the EKs.
We've been assured that we should not worry and just build the
hardware with the NANDflash and everything will be groovy with the new
chips. We're leaving solder pads for the dataflash, just in case, but...

I'd ask your Atmel rep directly if the 9G20 has similar issues.
