Connecting BX-24 to Siteplayer

Started by uvajerk August 5, 2003
What is the easiest way to communicate between the BX-24 development
kit and the Siteplayer development kit if I don't have access to the
serial plug on the BX-24? The plug is used to connect the BX-24 dev
kit to another controller.

I bought some jumper wires with the BX-24 and planned on connecting
the input/output pins of each and just monitoring the status of each
via the BX-24, but that only gives me one-way communication... unless
I am mistaken (which is often the case).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Jamie

Jamie,
You can tie the BX-24 to the SitePlayer using Com3 and two BX-24
pins.
The SitePlayer development kit, however, has analog circuitry to
allow the SitePlayer to talk to a BX-24 or PC via RS-232. If you want
to talk to a development board, it needs to be through RS-232. Go
download the documentation of the SitePlayer and check out the
SitePlayer Development manual.

Chips are available such as the MAXIM MAX233, which converts
digital serial to RS-232. With that, you could convert the COM3
output of the RX-24 to RS-232. --- In , "uvajerk" <uvajerk@y...> wrote:
