LCD+ connections

Started by Conrad A***** July 23, 2004
I went to my local electronics store today and I was going to pick up
some connectors to attach to the LCD+. But apparantly they don't
have anything that will work since the keypad pins are so close to
the power/transmission pins. So what did you guys do? Do I need
some special connector to allow both groups of pins to be used at the
same time?

Thanks.

Conrad Andres

I use connectors from Molex connectors spaced .1" apart from www.mouser.com
I use 4pin PN = 538-22-01-2047 for the serial port
I use 8pin PN = 538-22-01-2087 for the keypad port
both connectors use the same pins PN = 538-08-55-0102

Thanks Joe,

I was just wondering something else, how did you get away with using
a 4 pin connector for the serial port when it is a 5 pin setup?

It fits fine. I just wire the TX,Rx, skip the ATN, wire GND and let the 5v
hang out.
These connectors are "stackable". Meaning if you had a 8 pin connector you
can plug two 4pin connectors along side each other. And they fit fine.
