Com problem with SP & BX24

I try to get my siteplayer to talk to the BX24. I've built the board
Tom Igoe has on his web site:

what I'm trying to do is send a char like 'A' to the BX24. The BX24
then turn on the green LED if it recieves the 'A'. CODE:

It could be quite a few things, I'm not familiar with siteplayer, but the code for the BX24 has a few problems.
Using the formal "Sub Procedures" syntax avoids confusion.
Line 1, should be Public Sub Main()
Line 12, should be Sub init()
In the fourth line there is a typo. if status(inputbeffer) = true then should be
if status(inputBuffer) = true then.
In the fifth line there is a typo. call getqueue(inputbuffer, indata, 1) should be
call getqueue(inputBuffer, indata, 1).
You may want to dimension the "dataBuffer" array with Dim dataBuffer(1 to 4) As Byte.
In assigning values to the elements of the array, the index numbers shouldn't be the same, I think you want:
dataBuffer(1)=&H90
dataBuffer(2)=&H20
dataBuffer(3)=&HFF
dataBuffer(4)=&H01
Also, you might try using the "&" ampersand instead the "$" dollarsign for hexadecimal numbers.
In the 23rd line there are typos. call putqueue(outbuffer, databuffer, 4) should be
call putqueue(outputBuffer, dataBuffer, 4).
You may want to double-check to see if the logic needs to be inverted in the defineCom3 call.

call defineCom3(11,12,&H88) 'Inverted logic, 8 data bits

them. I did some searching and learn that the 2 are
somewhat talking because the siteplayer's UDP is being
Init by the BX24. so i'm left wonder what could be the

There seems to be quite a few examples of working SitePlayer/BX-24 combinations
so you are probably very close to working. Without knowing your specific circuit
diagram and the messages form the BX-24, it's difficult for me to pinpoint the problem(s).

In a relatively simple interface it only takes one bad wiring connection or one bit wrong
in code to stop the show. Look for something simple like inverted signals, triple check everything.

OK, I think i've figure it out but I don't understand
why it's working. I've built the circuit that Tom has
on his website:
http://stage.itp.tsoa.nyu.edu/~tigoe/pcomp/siteplayer/siteplayer-customboards.shtml

The one witht he SP and BX24 on one board. The catch
to this circuit is that i have to put a 220 ohm
resistor inbetween the pin 12 of the BX24 and the TX
line of the siteplayer. Then the 2 device work fine
(meaning that talk to one another). Just for kicks
I've tried to 2.2K ohm resistor from ground and +5, no
luck. but if i put it on the TX side of R3, it works
fine. So now i kinda baffled by this?

I do want to thank you for your help and the code
examples, they where a big help.
