Project parts

Started by Tom Becker February 11, 2005
I am again struck by the useful parts that I've found in discarded
electronics.

This morning I was lamenting that I had no small inductors. I have had
several old VCRs here that I've cannabalized for small motors, screw
gears, springs and the like. I'd ignored the circuit boards altogether
until now. I now have no shortage of small inductors, although now I
need to figure out what values I have.

The absolutely best small turntable bearing came from a decomissioned
3.5" IDE drive; killer magnets, too.

What other sources of parts have you folks found around the house? Tom

Theres a local electronics store here in Huntsville, Alabama who sells 'junk
boards' for about $0.50 each.
