Is it possible to increase the PWM beyond 14kHz?

Started by Ed July 27, 2005
Hi

I read the application notes for PWM and I assume that maximum speed
would be around 14kHZ. For my project I would need more than 20kHz,
would it be possible to overclock the BasicX? Would it mess the OS?

Any solution for this?

Thanks

Ed

Overclocking has been tried before. Apart from the fact that it does
mess up serial comms etc, the underlying chip really doesn't support
much more than 8 MHz. Two other possible solutions are buy a PWM
generator or build one yourself like I did - see the "PWM Controller" on
my projects page. You will need to change the R and C component values
to get the high frequency you want.
