Alt-R, -D, -E, -S in IDE

Started by Tom Becker December 17, 2005
Never noticed this tidbit before:

When you start the Basic-X IDE (BasicX.Exe), the Downloader window
opens. Grab the lower-right corner of the window with the mouse and
pull it to the right until you see the vertical scrollbar appear, then
pull it down until the horizontal scrollbar just appears. Continue
pulling down while looking just under the right end of the horizontal
scrollbar. See hidden buttons Alt-D, Alt-E, Alt-S and Alt-R? They
are clickable, too.

I don't know why these alt-keystrike underscores are not in the main
pulldown menus, but it's nice to know that the typical menu
first-character keystrokes work for at least those four commands. Tom

Looks like someone changed their mind during the GUI design..

I do that frequently in my VB work: put debugging buttons just outside the
"normal" area of my fixed-size form, then drag the form back to normal size
when I'm done so the buttons are still there in case I need to do more
debugging later.

Similarly, I hide them under another control that can be invisible,
revealing the buttons. Tom
