Started by gouardopatrick October 2, 2009
Hello,

I want to build a module reading 10 I/O line with the Basicx 24 and the system will send the change of status of the I/O lines by SMS via a GSM modules.
On the market, I have found the following modules :
TC35i Siemens,
GM862,
GT864 or
TM2 at a reasonnable price with sometime interface module with RS232 input(Total cost between 100 and 200 $).
I like to know if anybody on the list has the experience of such modules to have used them in the Basicx environnement.

Does anybody as example of codes.

All advices on the selection of the GSM modules, suppliers and coding are welcomes.

Best Regards.

Patrick.

Hello
I've been developping such projects for a while
I first started with MC35i from Siemens.
Their modems have evoluted a lot from MC35 to TC65, then XT65 and now MTX65
If you only want SMS communications, use MC35, If you need GPRS
communications and GPS, use MTX65.
The 3 last models have a microprocessor inside and general input/output
ports so, if you are at ease wil java, you can develop all the project
with it (you don't need the basicx24)...
I have code for what you want. If you then decide for it, let me know
Regards

David
Hello David,

Thanks for your reply and proposal.

I do not know Java and I will stick for the moment to the BX24 that I have to learn more but ........ on the way.

Later, I may want to also send via GSM picture taken from an external camera.
Some GSM Modem have such possiblity , I think the GM862 from Telit.
Do you know if the TC35i from Siemens can do this.

Thanks and Best Regards.

I don't know if you can send a picture with the ones from Siemens... I
never tried...
The code for sending a SMS message is:

AT+CMGF=1
AT+CSMP,167,0,0
AT+CMGS= ### ### ### (mobile number)
(write your message here)+ CTRL-Z
