Cheap GSM and GPS modules

Hi, 
I want to make a stand alone device which could sen me location based
reminders. For that I need a GPS module and a GSM module. I am a student in
India so cost would be a major concern. Looking forward to your reply.

http://www.sparkfun.com/products/7917

Sparkfun has lots of other GSM and GPS modules.   They may not be
the most convenient source in India, but they are a good indicator
of what is available for student and small-quantity projects.

$170 for the GSM and perhaps another $100 for GPS.  Might as well get
a smart phone.  They are available everywhere including India.
