MOC5007 Optocoupler drop-in replacement

Started by Shane williams March 27, 2011
Hi

We're using the MOC5007 opto-coupler for isolation in an RS485
circuit. Does anyone know of a drop-in replacement for this with
slightly better performance?

The pinouts are shown halfway down this page

TIA

From what I know about what is going on in the optocoupler arena it is unlikely that you'll find a higher performance version of a part to replace the MOC5007 in the same package. I suspect that you are looking at a board spin or need to build a small adapter board to fit up some other part in place of the existing part. You may want to look at these parts from Vishay... http://www.vishay.com/docs/84732/6n137vo2.pdf Mouser carries some models: http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=782-6N137 -- Michael Karas Carousel Design Solutions http://www.carousel-design.com

That does seem to be unobtanium, eh? Try the H11L1, also from Fairchild. From a quick comparison it looks like a fit. -- Rich Webb Norfolk, VA

The H11L1 does look like a pin compatible replacement but is hardly speced at higher performance then the MOC5007. Fairchild: http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/H1/H11L1-M.pdf -- Michael Karas Carousel Design Solutions http://www.carousel-design.com

Thanks for those links. The H11N1M looks pin compatible and faster at 5Mhz.

Beware of the inverted output in comparison to H11L1 !!!
