Please excuse my ignorance. I just bought the 39.95 Z86423 Encore MCU package. This is the unit that only has three leds (one red, one yellow, and one green) instead of the led matrix array. I have gotten the serial port to work and can see printfs, but I would like to play with the GPIO ports. However, it seems that these ports are connected to holes in the PCB. As far as I can tell, these holes are designed to be filled with a type of jumper connector. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to connect to these IO pins. I have worked with an HC11 development kit, but the IO pins in that kit were connected to a preinstalled connector designed to insert wires. Any help is appreciated

There are pins you can buy to solder into the holes. A local electronics place might have some. The catalog I'm looking in calls them "Male Headers". Essentially, each pin is a plastic block with a metal pin going through it. The short side is what you solder into the board. The long side is for either wire wrapping onto or to connect to a female header connector attached to another board or to a cable. I use wire wrapping. I'm looking in a Jameco catalog (www.jameco.com).
