What type of connector is this?

Started by Tilmann Reh December 23, 2015
Hello group(s),

perhaps someone has an idea what brand/type of connector this is?

It's a Wire-to-Board crimp connector, 2.50 mm pitch with a "true"
locking mechanism.

The board where it's on carries a lot of different JST connectors that I
was all able to identify, however this type is unknown to me and I
couldn't find it at any of the common makers of such crimp connectors.
There is absolutely no marking or branding on neither the header nor the
housing.

Any hints and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance - and merry christmas to everyone,
Tilmann

Tilmann Since it is 2.5mm spacing it would suggest that it is of European origin. I worked for a German connector company (Weidmuller) for some time and am still on the periphery of the industry, but I don't recollect seeing something exactly like it. I would guess that it is from an Asian source. If you want an exact replacement, I can only suggest that you painfully go through the following manufacturers, but if you want a similar part then you will definitely find one in the list. Keep in mind that in North America 2.5mm spacing in relatively difficult to get ex-stock, but a 2.54mm connector of 2 to 4 pins can usually be coaxed to fit the 2.5mm spacing. These are the (mostly European) manufacturers that I can think of: 1. Phoenix Contact (their PTSM range comes very close to what you are looking for, see 1778560 and1778845 (no crimp required-spring cage connection)) 2. Weidmuller (although I don't know of any pluggable 2.5/2.54mm yet. However if you want 3.5mm, well there are plenty of those) 3. Weiland 4. Wago 5. Weco 6. Entrelec 7. Tilmann How about this http://www.molex.com/molex/products/family?key=minilock&channel=products&chanName=family&pageTitle=Introduction&parentKey=wire_to_board_connectors or maybe this http://www.molex.com/molex/products/family?key=spox&channel=products&chanName=family&pageTitle=Introduction&parentKey=wire_to_board_connectors from Molex --------------------------------------- Posted through http://www.EmbeddedRelated.com

... 2.5 mm is also 0.1 in., which is a common pin spacing in the US.

No it is NOT. 0.1"=2.54mm and you really begin to notice the difference after 4 or 5 poles to the point that it will not fit. However I did say "Keep in mind that in North America 2.5mm spacing in relatively difficult to get ex-stock, but a 2.54mm connector of 2 to 4 pins can usually be coaxed to fit the 2.5mm spacing. I've seen some Chinese Molex knock offs, so Molex might be a good fit. Cheers
