Hello everyone, I have one of the old (but still useful) EVBU boards with a HC711E9 on it. I've interfaced a DS1230 (32K x 8) NVRAM for use in expanded mode. My question is how do I load the Buf34.s19 the NVRAM? I've already cleared the ROMON bit in the config register. In Bootstrap mode, you can't see the expanded NVRAM (or at least I don't know how to access it). The 32K starting address is $8000, which seems like the common thing to do(Handy Board, and a couple of other boards I've looked at). Thanks for the help! Duane |

Some notes and questions for you: The special bootstrap mode should be able to access all memory. Have you been able to access (read) it? If nothing else, set ROMON and see if BUFFALO is there. What program are you using to access bootstrap mode? Have you told it where the (NV)RAM is? Are you sure the NVRAM chip select and other hardware lines are connected correctly, ala Fig. 2-23 of the Pink Book? Please give us more details. Hello everyone, I figured out how to do it. Using JBug11, you have to SET the MODA bit in the HPRIO register to put it in 'special expanded boot-strap mode', as per the pink reference manual. With that bit set, I could access the NVRAM and load Buffalo. It took quite a bit of sleuthing to discover that bit of info. But, like 'they' always say "When in doubt, read the manual."
