LPC2xxx with color LCD controller

Started by Sebastien Jacquemard January 17, 2007
Hi,

I would like to know if NXP plan to develop a version of LPC2xxx with a color LCD controller. I use actually LPC2138 and 2101 and I just finished a new product equiped with a Sharp LH75401. The big problem I just heard that Sharp will stop production of these devices and I spend 4 month to develop this product... it's not a very funny news...
I will buy stock for 2 years production but I've got to find a replacement. A classic graphic controller like epson is to expansive and take place on the PCB... I'm looking around a iMXL from freescale but it's more complicated for the PCB and not suporting by my compiler (keil realview)... or maybe an atemel arm9...
In fact the ideal will be an ARM7 with color controller like sharp.. I don't want to go to high end solution like intel Xscale....

You could look at Cirrus Logic too.

CrossWorks for ARM, MSP430, AVR, MAXQ, and now Cortex-M3 processors
I know its not an LPC, but you might find this product interesting. Its
still an ARM.

Note the 128x128 12 bit color TFT.

Ummm.. the pin organization seems better on the STR912 than it does on
the LPC2378. For example, I can use all the timer channels and all the
ADC channels at the same time. That is important for my application.

Sorry to discuss a non LPC device here. I have no affiliation with ST,
Spark Fun or Phillips.
look up solomon systech, they have epson type parts for under $5

In fact I use on my product a 4,3" display with a 480x272 resolution (also by sharp.. I hope they don't stop it also next month...)
I've to I'm actually looking around the SAM9261 from atmel but a solution with a lpc2468 with a solomon systech chip may be good...

I have just done reference design using the STR9 and the solomon
SSD1906. It drives a Hitachi TX09 QVGA TFT display.

It is running microwindows and initial tests have been good.
Also look out for a new STR93 family with onboard TFT driver - due out
very soon.

I just make a search on google about this future str93... i don't find anything , do you have further informations ?

Hi,

got some friends at NXP and according to them there will be an LPC2000
based micro with LCD interface soon. Seems to use similar IP as the
Sharp devices but don't know about details yet.
Don't dump the Sharp code and hardware yet, may be you can reuse a lot
of it!?

While I can't tell you the exact schedule, I understood that an
announcement will be done soon. (whatever soon means)
