Re: graphic development for uCLinux on LPC2478

Started by Massimiliano Taccuso February 19, 2009
Thanks Don.

I'm sorry but I started with Linux and LPC247x just few days ago and I don't have any experience.

It seems that there are several possibilities -> I will try with Direct FB. I hope that the MMU absence will not affect all these solutions -> probably I have to use Nano-X or something like this...

The second issue could be: is uCLinuxable to manage the TFTController inside the LPC2470/78? I wasn't able to find the drivers inside the BSP from the Embedded Artist -> this is my bigger concern..

I didn't find nobody that has already used uCLinux with a graphical applicationwith this microcontroller.
Thanks again and have a nice day.

Max

first hit looks like a winner.

An Engineer's Guide to the LPC2100 Series

I think that a graphical application over uc-linux is too heavy for a
lpc24xx (this is only my opinion).

Another way is not to have uclinux and use specific gui stacks such emwin
(segger). This option have the problem that if you also want to use usb,
mmc, ethernet, etc... you need specific stacks with prices similar to gold
ingots (including gui stack).

Re - "I think that a graphical application over uc-linux is too heavy
for a lpc24xx ..."

I have to (conditionally!) disagree with this statement. In the case
of the 2468 or 2478, the 512KB limitation on code size would pose
severe problems for hosting uCLinux. However, one of the flashless
parts (2460 or 2470) should work fine when paired with larger flash
and RAM components.
