USB LPC2378

Started by sukhdeep singh May 20, 2009
Hi Everybody,
I have some doubts related to USB during reading LPC23xx user manual.

1)what is role of DMA in USB?
2)Is there any difference in USB OTG and host/device controllers?
3)Can LPC2378 can be used as Host controller?
4)what is the difference between USB i2c and USB OTG controllers?
5) what is USB-IF?

kindly tell me about all these things.
Thanks.

Regards
Sukhdeep Singh

The USB host controller is available on the LPC2387/88 and LPC2361/62 only.

Use DMA instead of I/O to move data between endpoints and RAM.

OTG is used to switch the roles of USB controller as either host
or device using Host Negotiation Protocol(HNP). It sits on top
of both host and device.

Yes.

I2C is used to configure the external OTG tranceiver such as
ISP1301.

USB-IF stands for USB Implementers Forum, go to http://www.usb.org
to see more details.
