RTC on LPC2478

Started by Daniel P June 22, 2009
Hi all,
I got a RTC issue on the LPC2478,
when the device resets the time and date is ok,
when power is cycled the time is still ok but date is corrupt,

data sheet for RTC says 2.0V to 3.6V for Vbat, and RTC typically fails below 1.6V,
battery measured 3.0V (not inserted)
any ideas?

thanks

An Engineer's Guide to the LPC2100 Series

Hi Daniel,

Never seen. Three devices were switch ON/OFF many times.
Please, explain how you cycle the power - I will make similar test.
Was it secondary power, was it primary power, or was it 3.3 V ?

Regards
Vladimir

Hi,
I'm using the olimex LPB2478-STK board, with WINARM compiler
all looks good, got LCD, serial, touch screen, accelerometer working fine.

RTC is the problem

battery plugged in and jumper set to BAT, and voltage at 3.0V

the time and date get set correctly and are read correctly.
I reprogram without setting time or date and still reads ok.
many resets, still fine.
if I turnoff power (battery still in) then time is still ok but date seems to be corrupted

I made sure that "day of year" is also set correctly, not sure if necessary
Thanks,
