Why GPIOs are not aligned?

Hi all,

In your opinion why LPC2000 GPIO pins are spreaded and are not aligned like 8-bit microcontrollers? how can I overcome this problem with minimum overhead?

I do not have a problem.

Use the IOSET and IOCLR, IOPIN bit commands

So what!! Make a group of pins, put them in define and use the variable.
That will load your software, but reduce PCB traces.
