ADC high current consumption

Started by Matthias Weingart August 15, 2004
I have a problem that some of my MSP430F149 show higher current during ADC
conversion. All of my MPS430F149 Rev L (Lot 3CA4NNT) have this behaviour.
Newer ones (Rev N) are ok. Unfortunately the bug database does not have the
code 3CA4NNT.
In my application I sample 6 channels every 0.125 second. When I monitor
the current with the oscilloscope I see in 50% of the time (but randomly
distributed) a much higher current spike than normal and I have 50uA
average current - (10uA with Rev N).
When I disable the ADC the current consumption is at normal level.
(I wondered why TI sells '1491 devices without ADC. Maybe this are just
selected chips with a dead ADC!?:-)

Did anybody here observe a similar problem?

Another point is, that I could not program the chip with enabled watchdog
(each time the reset line toggled - the programming failed and stopped).
Rev N devices are working with the JTAG interface, regardless the state
of the reset pin. Rev L seems to be a very odd chip version.
