MSP430FET149 DAC

Started by bigdog16_83 April 18, 2005
Has anybody worked with the DAC(Digital to Analog Converter) that is
on the MSP430FET149? Is this worthwhile or would an external DAC be
better for a handheld application? I have a TI DAC908 that I'm having
trouble interfacing with the MSP and was wondering if I would be fine
using the DAC that is internal to the MSP. (If anyone has worked with
this TI DAC please let me know.) Any information on this or comments
would be appreciated. thanks
David

Beginning Microcontrollers with the MSP430

I've used it, seems to work great for my purposes.

Well, the DAC works. (Why it should not?). The only issue was, that you get
a
spike at the output if you set the calibration bit.

The DAC works fine, I've run audio apps, signal generators, etc using
it. It's simpler even than, say a TLC7226 DAC, since you don't need to
mess with /CS. Like any DAC care needs ot be taken with bipolar signals
and filtering where higher qwuality is required.
