digital audio store, digital audio out help

Started by del_stevens March 9, 2007
I am looking for help from anyone who has implemented digital audio
stored in some type of flash and then "playe" out over DAC.

I guess I have 2 questions:

1. how are people storing digital audio files (5-20 seconds 16 bit
encoded)?

2. does anyone have experience (and examples) of taking that stored
(in flash maybe?) audio and putting it out using the DAC?

I appreciate anyone's help in this area.

Beginning Microcontrollers with the MSP430

A few years ago I had a play with a Softbaugh card that did exactly that.
It had a small mike on board and a small speaker.

I cut off the speaker in order to use the audio ouput with a decent earpiece.

They provided demo software to record and playback.

See: http://www.softbaugh.com/ProductPage.cfm?strPartNo9
You will note that the board I used is obsolete ... but the source code is still there.

Maybe one of their other boards can do the same - check out their site.

Note: You will need good signal levels from the mike, VERY clean circuit board construction and will also need to be very careful when dealing with the signal dynamic range.

Very good!! I will use this. Two more questions:

1. with this example is an digital audio text file. What is the best
way to "download" this to the msp430?

2. if I take .wav generated files created from another source and
download them (via question #1), what issues will I have to be
concerned with to "play" that .wav file out the DAC?

hi
i've worked in such application, i use nand memory, however now you can use sd card using spi
it's more easy to use and let you to concentrate in which is really important.
i use msp430f155 in my project.
there are other technics for recording, i read above a btc algorithm, wich could be a more eficient method for storing
