Fatal Error: Failed to write memory at 0xE000

Started by ken_and_wanda November 20, 2008
I get this message when I hit the debug icon in IAR KickStart. I
haven't encountered this before and have been using IAR KickStart for
about 3 months. My target hardware is the same, MSP430 code is exactly
the same as yesterday when I did not encounter this message. My
target is an MSP430F2330. Any ideas?

Beginning Microcontrollers with the MSP430

In my experience this is a power source problem. Your MSP is getting
enought power to be recognized by your JTAG programmer, but not
enought to write to flash (or to read it after writing). The small
amount of power may be comming from the JTAG pins themselves, be a
leftover from a CAP or be feeding the MSP from another circuit
throught one of the MSP's input protection diodes.

Hi all,

Just curious to know if somebody had symbol and footprint for MSP430F5418
and any step/ibis/3d model for the micro.

Thanks
Ram

You did not mention what kind of schematic and layout tools you are
using. I have the schematic and layout parts for Orcad if that helps.
The 3D model is on my list of things to do, but it's pretty to make
if you have the tools. Let me know when you get that done :o)

I'm sure this will help with the fatal error when writing to mem loc
0xe000.
