ive just started to make my own pic 16f84a programmer and have just
finished downloading mplab ide version 6.80 and ic-prog ver 1.05c...

however, after completing the programmer and making my first program,
i got this message that didn't irrate me the first time but when i
got to repeat the steps in burning the hex codes over again, i found
the message very tiring... can any one help me on this?...

my pc has an 800 Mhz chip... my OS is a Win98... does pic have
software and hardware compatibilities? ....

and another thing... i borrowed a working JDM programmer from a
classmate which worked well in the pc's in school but when i tried it
with my pc, the same failed message appeared...

i'd really appreciate any help or suggestions that would make change
the failed message to a verified message... thanks

One thing you may try is plugging the programmer right
into the LPT port , no cable , I had a simalar problem
and discovered that the cable I was using was bunk
