Internal osc for 12F629 or similar chips

Started by randy ram September 28, 2004

I use PicBasic Pro on this chip with ICProg.

I am trying not to use an external xtal on it. Does anyone know how to set it using PicBasic?

Thanks

Randy

Subject: [piclist] Register status at reset for 12F629 or similar chips

Hi All,
In the datasheet under the Reset section u often find this statement.

---Some registers are not affected in any RESET
condition; their status is unknown on POR and
unchanged in any other RESET.----

I assume other RESET includes BOD.

In the table SPECIAL FUNCTION REGISTERS SUMMARY, non of the registers
appear as "unchanged" for BOD reset.

a) Are there typo errors in SPECIAL FUNCTION REGISTERS SUMMARY?
b) Are there any registers not included in SPECIAL FUNCTION REGISTERS
SUMMARY ?
c) Do we need to assume that all registers that are XXX.. at POR are
indeed UUU... at BOD or other resets. However this is not clear from
SPECIAL FUNCTION REGISTERS SUMMARY table.

Two ways to do it through @device and also using the settings window
on the side of ic-prog. I do it through IC-prog manually.

If you want to add this to the beginning of your code

DEFINE OSC 4 ' Oscillator speed is 4mhz
(internal RC)
@ DEVICE INTRC_OSC ' Enable internal Osc

I usually load the hex file into ic-prog and then make sure the fuses and
settings
are set the way I need them in ic-prog. I've had a few instances where ic-prog
setting overwrote the ones I had set in my code. Once you have selected 12F629
in ic-prog you should see an oscillator window on the right side, simply
scroll down
until you see "IntOSC GP4" or "IntOSC CLKOUT". The GP4 lets you use the
pin while
CLKOUT outputs a signal on the pin you can use to sync other parts timing.
