Problems with PC-Rabbit communications for debbuging

Started by Francisco Garces June 8, 2005
Hello,
I got an USB/RS232 converter but I can't make it work with the Dynamic C (9.21). The cable is fine since I tried it on a different application . I checked the box "Use USB to Serial converter" at the Project options window.... I've tried a lot but still doesn't works.
Does anybody know anything about this problem? or has anyone worked out a usb/serial connection successfuly to program a rabbit module?? Please Help!!
Thanks ...

Search the archives as this has been discussed plenty of times in the past. In short, not all USB to Serial converters are the same. In fact some are very poor controlling the RS232 control signals. There is a list of tested (known working) converters (I’m not sure where this is located). The one ZWorld sell (based on FTDI chipset) works great. We have about 3 or 4 other models around the office, and it beats the hell outta them…

Francisco,

I had the same problem with a known working USB to RS232 converter.
To avoid headaches I bought the one that Zworld sells and it works
100%.

Hi

Just to add weight to the solution, I had exactly the same problem.
I contacted my dealer and they said that they had other instances of
this problem. I bought their USB convertor and the problem was
solved.

Cheers
