Rabbit 2000 and Dynamic C 10

Started by ricardoparanabr March 28, 2013
Hi all,

can I use Dymanic C 10 with my old project with rabbit 2000 ? (RCM2200)
or
are there any new module pin compatible with RCM2200 ?

Regards,

ricardo

Dynamic C 10 only supports 4000, 5000 and 6000 series processors. you
need 9.x for 2000 and 3000 series (9.62 is current version.)

Newer modules use entirely different form factors.

I can write the programs with the new program, but cannot communicate with the PK2100 to compile it. I still use my old program on a windows XP I don't think the new program supports the old processors. Mike Hughes

I've run into this issue with an older RCM3000 based board. My old
development was on a Windows XP machine with the original ZWorld recommended
USB to RS232 module.

Now that I have had to switch to Windows 7 64 bit I can't get it to
communicate with the RCM3000 using the same or any USB to RS232. I even
tried a few of the ideas on delays etc. Nothing has worked so far.

Very frustrating and I don't want to go out and get a machine just to run
Windows XP on. New machines also lack real RS232 ports, just like the one I
have here. :(

Sadly it looks like Digi are not backwardly supporting DynC 9.xx or
providing cables that work so I doubt I am going to be able to do anything
with it.

I have moved away from the Rabbit products over the last couple of years for
various reasons, reduced support for legacy products being one of the
reasons.

Dave.

On the other side, I too have a W7 64bit machine, and have no trouble
whatsoever communicating to RCM3000 based boards in both DC733 and
DC962. I use both rabbit USB serial cables, and straight thru db9. For
giggles, I did purchase a cheapo 2 port rs232 card with db9s on it that
slips into a pci slot. That gives me "standard" com ports for other
products (and seems to work find in various terminal packages.)

In DC, I did find that disabling baud negotiation and processor
verification speeds things up. But, I'm sure it's a YMMV regarding comm
stuff.

If you're really unlucky and desperate for options, you could fire up
the virtual PC stuff and run an XP session inside. Might give you more
happiness (I had to with an old PromICE I have.)

I have similar problems. I have an RCM4000 base and 2 PCs both running
Windows 7. However one has an RS232 port and it does communicate (quite
reliably - at the moment) while the other PC only has a USB-RS232
adaptor and doesn't communicate at all.
Currently I have develop on one machine, run out to the other and
download it and test and then return to the first machine for further
program development.

I also find the programming cables very annoying and weak and find it
doesn't take very long before the connections become dodgy and I have to
swap to another cable. Compounded by the fact that you plug it in to
program and debug then unplug it to do some live testing and the
re-plug...... It would have been better to have left the connector on
the `blue lump' end exposed so that you unplug at the end - bigger
pins, a bit more robust and you could change to an adaptor without the
`programming mode' part on it 9or add a switch to disable it).

I find the lack of support for legacy and the apparent lack of
consideration for developers along with the really poor communications
support very disappointing.

Im asking because a have an old project using RCM2200 and my main cliente want to use 2 stop bits on serial comunicacion.

Are you sure you do not already effectively have 2 stop bits?

Some processors are slow enough between bytes that there can be a whole extra stop bit between bytes without you adding one in.
