I know it's an LPC2k forum, but at the other end of the scale, I just ordered five of these at GBP 11.60 each:

http://uk.farnell.com/atmel/atsam4s-xpld/eval-sam4s16-xplained-kit/dp/2215343?ref=lookahead

1MB internal flash, 128K internal SRAM, 8MB external SRAM, and a J-Link On Board.

We agree to use the forum for every LPC microcontrollers because the
LPC1000 forum hasn't so much traffic.
So every post related to LPC800, 1000, 2000 and 3000 families are welcome.

...just to say, GBP 11.60 for this equates to about $18. The announced cost
of the SAM14S-XPLD board (bad suffix!) is $30. So, the 50% off from
Farnell, which is how they hooked me, looks good.

Atmel must be supplying them below cost to Farnell. Both ST and TI must also be making a loss on their Discovery and Stellaris Launchpad ARM boards; I don't think I've seen NXP doing the same.

No, there are no loss on these boards. Their price starts around
EUR10.00 (EUR4.99 for some TI boards) and I receive many of them for
free also when I ask to distributors to buy them... so I am sure that
when they give boards for free they are loosing some money but the real
cost of this board is lower then their official price.

Same board at Newark is $50 not in stock, looks like you are getting
a great deal. $32 at Mouser and on order, I might get one.
