which micro for USB

Started by Peter Grey September 13, 2012
I have tried TI's website but it does not give me the answers I need. I
wish to talk with a USB device which is CDCModem compliant. I will be
talking through TI micro (hopefully a MSP430 chip) but I cannot find
which to use. Some the companies call it USB-On the Go. Has anyone
experience in this area? I know Microchip can do this and also FTDI
offer a solution. I just want a general pointer to which area of TI's
website I should look at.

TIA

Peter

You will require USB Host or USB OTG. No MSP430 has either of these as far
as I am aware.

Wrong orientation. USB Host is required to talk to a CDC device with the MSP430 as the host.

If you are willing to go with a different family of MCUs take a look at
Renesas offering.
