From the comments in here it looks like they still supply development kits, tuition costing less is a fallacy, just did a stint in network engineering, cisco and such, cheap it ain't.
Btw, my first computer was a D2 kit, it boasted 128 bytes of Ram, of course that was well and truly after my student days.

Lovely stuff, at least it smoked when it went bung, don't start me on the exitement benefits of valves:-)
