RF transmitter: 433Mhz vs 860-920Mhz Which is better?

Started by harris_cohen December 4, 2003

What are the pro's/con's of choosing between these frequencies for an
RF project? Which has better distance?
Is one less susceptible to inteference?
Does one frequency travel better through obstacles (like walls)? Has anyone used the easyradio RF modules from http://www.narsrf.com? Thank you,
Harris Cohen

Depends on what you want to do. I've done quite a bit with 460mHz
radios, over 10-20km using the bx24. I'm also about to try some cheap
short range modules..about 1/3 the price of the ones you quoted. Tell me
more.

I did some work with short range video and the general rule of thumb is the
higher the frequency the lower the range and the higher the susceptibility
to terrestrial interference. The tradeoff is the higher the frequency the
more data you can move - a big consideration for video work.

I want to build telemetry devices for outdoor data collection. The
reason I like the easyradio modules is because they handle all of the
software overhead making the implementation easier for a novice like
me.

Who was the manufacturer of the 460mHz device? Where can I find it? --- In , Neil Jepsen <njepsen@i...> wrote:
