I have googled for an hour now, but the i386EX family does not seem to have a jtag emulator/debugger available. Is this true ?? hamilton

Without the capability in the processor, there's no way to build an emulator. There used to be a number of companies, back in the day, including HP, Softaid, and Sophia(?) that made full-function ICE emulators for the i386EX and other variants. Sadly, those days are gone. There are still some logic analysis solutions. AL
