Where do you order IC parts from?

I have been trying to get a simple SRAM chip at 8mbit. It seems that
there are 20 manufacturers who make them, and nowhere to buy or get a
few samples.

Digikey is where I started, but everythings out of stock except cyprus
parts. Those parts are a bit more complex and high powered than I
wanted. The Toshiba parts look great but theyre out of stock.

I've tried mouser, arrownac, and took one part number from digikey
TC55VBM416AFTN55 and googled around for 1.5 days. Tried to seek Toshiba
distributors, no luck.

Where can I get an 8mbit SRAM (or bigger) from? I dont want to get into
PSRAM yet. More generally, where do you get your IC parts from in small
sample quantities outside of arrownac and digikey?

Some parts are just inherently difficult to buy in non-production
quantities. SDRAM, for instance. You can usually get sample quantities
through a rep. Low-volume production is much harder. I haven't found a
good answer to this.

You mean 8Mbit, don't you? I've never heard of a millibit.

Hmmm, no, you actually mean 16Mbit - that's what the Toshiba part above is.

Sorry I don't have any real help for you. I have a purchasing dept that
tracks down samples for me. If they tell me they can't find it, then I spec
a differrent part. BTW: tell us where on the planet you are. Distributors
have specific territories but this news group  is world-wide.

We buy most of our SRAM/DRAM/SDRAM directly
from Taiwan.  There's a rumor that Brilliance,
who has a nice line of low power async SRAMs,
has signed a distribution deal with Future
so you might want to try them.

I'm in Toronto, so any western world source is easy.

Taiwan would be OK unless they require you to speak chinese. I speak 4
languages and Chinese isnt one.

I know that Toshiba part is 16Mbit, I meant I'm looking for 8Mbit or
above. Looking for 16 or 32-bit interface at 3.3v and can accept 70ns
or even slower.

I'm not a big company so getting samples might be tough. Unless its as
easy as getting samples from Maxim or Microchip. Don't have a
purchasing dept either. Part of the problem is that googling a part
gives you so many 'inventory' type pages which lead you nowhere, and
theres no central repository to browse through. Maybe the manufacturers
should themselves sell single unit parts as samples no matter what the
cost.

I'll go check Taiwanese sources. Maybe I'll get lucky.
