I have been diligently trying to improve the tutorial "ARM Cross Development with Eclipse" for the last year, but there are times where it seems like I'm shooting at a moving target. For example, Zylin does not archive old versions of their modified CDT plug-in and the links mentioned in the current Revision 3 tutorial ( http://www.olimex.com/dev/pdf/ARM%20Cross%20Development%20with%20Eclipse\ %20version%203.pdf <http://www.olimex.com/dev/pdf/ARM%20Cross%20Development%20with%20Eclips\ e%20version%203.pdf> ) no longer work. If you try to use the "latest and greatest" Zylin plug-ins, you'll find that they have some problems that render the debugger useless. These will eventually be fixed, but what can be done right now? I collected all the downloads (minus the cygwin stuff) into a single zip file and placed it on the www.megaupload.com <http://www.megaupload.com/> web site. This collection represents versions of Eclipse, the Zylin plug-ins, JAVA, GNUARM, etc. that work together harmoniously. This is a 198 mb file and takes about a hour to download on a high-speed internet connection. Included files: ARM Cross Development with Eclipse Revision 4 Draft.doc (draft tutorial) ARM Cross Development with Eclipse version 3.pdf (tutorial) bu-2.16.1_gcc-4.0.2-c-c++_nl-1.14.0_gi-6.4.exe (GNUARM) eclipse-SDK-3.1-win32.zip (Eclipse 3.1) embeddedcdt-20050810.zip (Zylin CDT) zylincdt-20050810/zip (Zylin CDT) hwsupport-2.16.exe (OCDRemote) jre-1_5_0_06-windows-i586-p.exe (JAVA) openocd.zip (OpenOCD) philips_flash_utility.zip (flash programmer) SourceCode.zip (sample code) The link to this components download is: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CNY1Y6DX <http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CNY1Y6DX> If you want to try the OpenOCD JTAG debugger, there are instructions on its use in the draft tutorial above; just stick to this set of downloads and everything will work smoothly. Hope this helps. Jim Lynch

Dear Jim This is really a great idea. So everyone who downloads your collection can be sure to have a working consistent development environment. Thanks!!!! Many thanks Jim! I've been wanting to suggest you include a links section in your tutorial where we could directly access all of the downloads from one page - so we could download everything at once prior to running through your tutorial while on vacation on a secluded island paradise (i wish). Anyhow, the moving target problem would remain, and this is a much better solution. And thanks for incorporating openocd in your newest tutorial - I never could get ocdremote working. Interesting download link - you have to wait a few minutes during a
countdown, while the site is trying to open popup windows (which I have
blocked). After the countdown finishes, another advertisement pops up, then
when you click on the download link, all I see is lots of tits. Bad form
people. I am not amused. Thankfully I wasn't at work when all this
happened.

Hi Jim,
I used the files from the download area you decribed.
Everything went well.
Now I added a simple strcpy function to test the library functions.
I also included the <string.h>.
When compiling I get the error message "main.c:57: undefined reference
to `strcpy'" from the linker. So I think the linker does not find the
include files.
What have I done wrong.
Some days ago I installed the files mentioned in Ref. 3 of your Howto
and it worked.
By the way: I wouldn't have been able to use eclipse and gnuarm without
your help!
Very fine work.
Regards,
Holger

Jim, I'm sorry. I had no idea that would happen (adult site popups). I've used this megaupload service before and had not seen that. I'll look for an alternate this weekend. Jim Lynch

My apologies to Jim Parziale. I have used the megaupload service before and never saw any popups related to adult material. I'll investigate an alternative this weekend, I hear Google has a similar service in beta. Until then, be forewarned that the megaupload service may have adult popup adverts. Now I'm depressed, Jim Lynch
