Burned LPC2103!!!

Started by nimster6969 June 18, 2008
Hi all:

I have a board with LPC2103 from ETT
(http://www.futurlec.com/ARM2103_Controller.shtml) and sudenly it
stoped working, I was testing some hardware with stepper motors and
the uC stopped responding, the code disapeared from the uC and I cant
even reprogram using Philips Flash Utility, talked with a friend and
he told me that maybe the ARM is not burned and maybe the bootloader
erased, my questing is how can I re-program or at least try to...my
board has Jtag probably will be able to re-program by there but I dont
have any programmer or schematic to make one (only have teh RS232
cable), if anyone can help me i'll really apreciate.

Best Regards
Nim

I have a simple JTAG design (jtag.zip) in the Files section.

Check all the connections, you might have a bad solder joint. However, you
might need to replace the LPC2103.

You can build easy wiggler for test your board. schematic http://www.hjtag.com/download/WIGGLER2.rar
It work perfect with H-JTAG software :)

Well the big problem is that i dont even know if I can program the uC
with J-Tag, ive tried to use Philips Flash Utility and some
bootloaders that came on the CD but cant even get connection with the
PC :(.

Have you checked the solder joints as I suggested?

Nim,

you can not erase the bootloader of the LPC2103 because it is not in a
Flash memory, it is a real ROM memory. So, you may exclude that option
from your debugging efforts. Most LPCs have the bootloader in a part
of the Flash but this one, the LPC2101/2/3 have it in a MaskROM.
