have any of you guys used SD16 ADC in your application, whats the
useful number of bits, i am in a fix whether to use an external serial
ADC like AD977 or an SD16 of 427, Ad977 has obviously more advantages.
but has some one made these comparisions?

I'm using sd16(m430f425) in weigh scale application ,
there is such appnote in TIwebsite.
Usefull bits - on 4.5mV full scale
range signal i have at least 3000 "true" divisions. TI's appnote
reports better results that these 3000 (10'000).
On other hands -
this is slow aplication, with big averaging.
