I just downloaded the Lite version and tried to use it under
Windows 7, 64-bit. So far, no luck.

Looked very encouraging, though.

Beginning Microcontrollers with the MSP430

Jon,

I do not know if the Elprotronic FET-Rro430-Lite works under Window-7 or not, or if it works for LaunchPad or not. I do not have either Window-7 or LaunchPad.

By the way, KickStart can also read existing Flash and save that in a file. I just do not know how to use it to restore the Flash from such saved file. FET-Rro430-Lite can do both.

It's a tossup what the problem might be. My bet is that it
doesn't work with/recognize LaunchPad's emulator section and
or the driver for it (if it is any different, which I also
don't know about.) Probably, the program runs fine other
than that. Seems to, anyway.

I suppose I could fire up the LaunchPad on an XP machine and
see what happens there. I'm betting it won't work, though.

I may have read something/tried something along those lines
some time ago. I don't remember, now. I do know about
changing the type of file used to write out the binary.

I'll have to do some re-reading, again, I guess. Too bad IAR
doesn't _actively_ support the features found in MPLAB for
this purpose. There, I can do most anything I want --
including develop custom compiler installation files.

But the Elprotronic program looks really good for the purpose
if I could get it working on LaunchPad. Have to try some
more things, soon, I suppose.

Thanks,
Jon
